| CORE HOLDING DEVICES
/ AIR SHAFT |
|
|
| |
Use of appropriate core holding device ensures no core damage, saving of loading unloading time and uniform winding / unwinding operation.
‘ARVIND’ offers varieties of devices according to requirement of the duty conditions like position load, speed, core width etc. Our product range covers, almost all the requirements of the industry. |
Air Shaft / Diffrential Shaft / Clutch Shaft |

|
Differential Shaft (Clutch Shaft) |
| |
|
Differential Shaft is a sophisticated winding shaft for slitter re-winder machine, used as duplex shaft winder (centre winding type). |
|
• It is capable of compensating speed variation due to gauge variation with multi cores.
• Minimum 20 mm core width is possible.
• Reel holding is possible at any position across the width.
• No-time lost in re-positioning cores since no distance pieces are required.
• Shaft can run at very high speed.
This shaft consists of slotted shaft, rubber bladders, hard and ground steel cage with ball type gripper. Teflon® strip for better slippage and self lubricating segments separating two adjacent steel cages. |

| MECHANICAL SHAFT (BLADDER LESS SHAFT) |
|
|
| |
 |
| |
This is a lug type shaft but core holding is initiated mechanically and not pneumatically. This shaft mainly consists of slotted pipe, steel lugs, brass cam, ratchet etc.
The shaft is capable of taking any challenge arising out of heavy load and speed. It is possible only because of positive gripping and core centering achieved without any extra efforts with the help of cam/lug design. It is very much advantageous with cores having uneven inside diameter. Key and alien-cap bolt prevent any shearing of journals - pipe assembly. |

| QUICK LOCK SHAFT |
|
|
| |
| |
 |
| |
| |
Economic model for Re-winder shaft having all the advantages like slippage, accommodating gauge variation, smaller core width etc. With only limitation of time needed for repositioning of the core. This shaft is suitable for Paper Cores. |

• Suitable for core I.D. 3”, 4” & 6”
• Length as per requirement
• Individual Quick Locks are also available having width of 50 mm, 75 mm, 100 mm and 300 mm. The bore of Quick Lock is tailor made. |

• In case of failure of bladder, though having least chance, shaft can hold the core till the process complete.
• Damaged bladder can be changed easily, even on the machine.
• Expanded area is available almost all over the length of pipe body. Very small width of the cores is possible to hold. |

| LUG TYPE EXPANDABLE SHAFT |
|
|
| |
 |
This is a very commonly used shaft. It mainly consists of slotted pipe, journals to suite users machine, lugs, rubber bladder and non-return valve.
This type of shafts are suitable for both unwinding and winding stages. It can accommodate single core, multi cores of the width more than 150 mm. Type of pipe material, lug material are decided based on duty conditions like load, speed and core material. The limitations are, it can not take care of gauge variation or individual core speed variation since slippage is not achieved and core width less than 1 50 mm. |

| LEAF TYPE AIR EXPANDABLE SHAFT |
|
|
| |
| |
 |
| |
| |
This type of shaft mainly consists of slotted base pipe, metal leaves with knurling/serration, rubber bladder, non-return valve and suitable journals.
This type of shaft can be used at unwind station, but mainly used at rewind stage for advantages like:
• Narrow width of core
• To prevent damage to thin cores (100 % support available to the core ID.)
• At times core-less winding is also possible
This also has a limitation to accommodate gauge and speed variation. |

| AIR CHUCK |
|
|
| |
 |
| |
Air chuck is a pneumatically expandable assembly. Expanded Jaws hold Core without slippage. Air chuck converts, existing expandable shaft for core l.D. 3” into shaft suitable for core ID. 6”. Internal bore of the chuck is supplied to suit existing collapse diameter of expandable shaft. |

| MECHANICAL CHUCK |
|
|
| |
 |
| |
• A mechanical device which is spring loaded.
• Expands clockwise and anti-clock wise.
• Due to spring collapses when machine stops.
• Jaws are rubber coated to prevent any damage to core ID.
• Jaw width, simple fitment with through bore or additional collar fitment supplied per customers requirement. |

| SPECIALTY SHAFTS |
|
|
| |
1. Pad Type Shaft
A lug type Air Expandable Shaft. Larger lugs (pad) are used to achieve better grip & more reel weight capacity. The pad material is special abrasion resistant rubber.
2. Continuous Rubber Strip Type Air Expandable Shaft
Suitable for steel and thermoplastic cores which are not work with conventional leaf type air expandable shafts. Narrow width cores are possible, but gauge and speed variations are not accommodated.
3. Doctoring Shaft
This smaller width shaft can be air expandable or mechanically expanded.
Can also be with longer end. (Cantilever type fitting)
4. Mechanical Adaptor Shaft (Pneumo Mechanical Shaft)
It is a mechanical attachment fitted on ‘ARVIND’ lug type air expandable shaft suitable for core ID. 3”, just fitting two adaptors on one shaft subsequent larger size core is possible to process. For example, existing shaft suitable for core I.D. 3” core I.D. can be easily converted into shaft suitable to hold core I.D. 6”. Obviously it is very economical.
5. Reverse Working Shaft (Bladder Less But Pneumatic)
This mechanical shaft requires compressed air to achieve collapse condition. It has advantage like positive gripping, core centering and safest working. |
